Food: Nakd Bars | Ad
I'm not the healthiest person on the planet, not even close, but I do try once in a while. So, when Fran from Total Media contacted me about a collaboration, I jumped at the chance to try Natural Balance Foods' Nakd Bars. They're natural snacks with only natural preservatives. Did I mention they're also gluten-free, wheat-free, and dairy-free? Score!
There was no way I could eat the entire sampler pack on my own, so I happily distributed some to my mother and my roommates. I was still left with about 6-7 bars so I decided to bring them to work. They each tried a small piece, and most people enjoyed it. One person in particular really enjoyed it because she loved healthy snacks. Towards the end of the day, I ended up giving her the rest of the box. She was very happy about that.
Since everyone was so excited to get free treats, I was not able to take a photo of the bars themselves. However, check out this blog post from Grocery Gems if you'd like to see what the bars look like. They essentially all looked the same, to be honest.
For those of you health lovers, you'd be pleased to know that these bars had three main ingredients: Dates, Cashews, and Raisins. There was a bar called Bakewell Tart, which I would assume to be the original bar because it literally just had the three ingredients.
My favorite of the bunch was the Cocoa Crunch. Like I said, healthy foods weren't my favorite to eat, but anything with chocolate would entice me to try it. I loved that I couldn't taste the healthy ingredients and it was actually delicious. Personally, I thought it was quite sweet, but my co-workers didn't think so.
I was a bit concerned with the fiber content, but since it was an all-natural bar, I didn't react to it negatively. My body honestly just loved it. Some of my coworkers also agreed that the texture was like that of Fig Newtons. I honestly wasn't a big fan of Fig Newtons, but if you just gave me Nakd Cocoa Crunch, I'd happily eat it :)
I tried a piece of most of the bars and found that I also liked the Banana Crunch because it tasted like banana nut bread. It did have the strongest banana scent when you open it, though. I didn't mind that since it was delicious!
Another co-worker tried Cocoa Orange. I informed her that chocolate orange was a big thing in the UK, and she said that she would love to eat the bar with a glass of chocolate milk. Perfect for this time of year, to be honest. Some did say the bar was a bit chewy, but besides that, they tasted good.
There was one bar that I didn't think I would like, but when I tasted it, I was blown away, and it was the Apple Crunch. I wasn't the biggest fan of apple-flavored products, but the bar was so good, I'd say it was one of my favorites. The apple taste was so subtle, which I really appreciated.
Before this post got too long, I just wanted to mention one more flavor: the Strawberry Crunch. It tasted like a really sweet candy to me, which was something I'd expect from a strawberry-flavored food. I don't know why, but strawberry-flavored foods somehow always turn out quite sweet.
The one big question about these bars was the expiration date. I looked all over the packaging and nowhere did it say when the bars would expire. I had thought that with them being all-natural, that they would spoil quite easily. However, according to the Natural Balance Foods website, their products actually have such a long shelf life. So there you have it, a bit of an assurance :)
Now for my final words about these products. I personally could not eat one bar in one sitting. In my opinion, it was too sweet. As for my favorite flavors, I think I could safely say that I really enjoyed the flavors that had "crunch" in its name. I'd certainly suggest those :)
P.S. If you're reading this the day it's published (11/27/15), there's a Black Friday Bonanza sale on their website. I'm not affiliated or anything, but may I suggest the Crunch Mixed Box or Chocolovers Box? Anyone want to send me a box for Christmas? ;)
Have you tried Nakd Bars? If not, would you be interested in trying them?
In case you didn't pick it up from this post, these products were sent to me for review. All opinions are my own. :)
